The Advance Caro-Kann is an improved French · Road to 2500, Game 81

The Caro-Kann may be less ambitious than the French, but it's also far less risky and often strategically easier to play. I think that's most obvious in the Advance variation, where Black simply doesn't have to deal with a buried bishop on c8. My opponent played a common inaccuracy in the Advance Caro-Kann, playing Bd3 and giving Black an easy exchange and a safe structure.
