The level of difficulty in women’s artistic gymnastics has vastly increased over the past decade.
Since the open-ended scoring system was introduced in 2006, there are in theory no limits to the maximum possible rating awarded to new skills.
In 2012, the highest rating given in the Code of Points was G and it only took about 7 years for it to be raised to J. At the Tokyo Games, a K-level skill on floor was even submitted but it has yet to enter the Code.
Every year, new insanely-difficult elements are popping up — gymnasts are taking the discipline to a whole 'nother level and there seems to be no sign of slowing down anytime soon.
