My cover of “Tunnel Rhino” (also known as Screw Masaider) from Mega Man X3 is a life saver. At the time of releasing this cover, I had to travel far away and would not be able to release music in the meantime. I had planned to release a collaboration but the plans fell through in the last moment. Desperate measures required a desperate solution. I needed to start a new cover from scratch and only had one day to finish this before traveling, which makes this the fastest cover I have ever made. But it was not easy, as many days of work was crammed into that 1 day. In fact, I wrote this very late at night wishing for nothing more than to sleep.

Tunnel Rhino is such a good theme, that even though it’s repetitive, it’s slow and intense that fits the power of a menacing boss like Tunnel Rhino.This theme gave me much freedom to experiment with solos which is something many of the Mega Man X3 themes tend to have.

The level itself is fun and fighting Tunnel Rhino is not the hardest, but I like the way he charges with so much intensity. He’s definitely one of my favorite bosses in Mega Man X3 because rhinos are my spirit animal. Who would’ve thought a rhino would save the day? I’m glad I could finish this on time with such limited time to give you all music while I’m away for many days. Rock on!
