What is a radicand? You are probably familiar with the radical symbol, which is most often used to denote the principal square root of a number (the positive square root). A number under a radical symbol is called the radicand. In the video we also go over what an "index" is. The index of a radical is assumed to be 2 unless a different index is written next to the radical.
