🔹 Rousseau Gambit for Black -    • The BEST Chess Opening Against 1.e4 -...

In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov shares with you the most aggressive gambit against the Ruy Lopez chess opening. It is the Schliemann Defense (also known as the Schliemann–Jaenisch Gambit) which happens after the following moves: 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 f5.

The move 3...f5 is amazing for two reasons. First, it is the most aggressive response to the Ruy Lopez. Classical variations are very positional, intricate, and requires a lot of time and effort to study those theories. Secondly, it is similar to the Rousseau Gambit where Black plays 3...f5 against the Italian Game, which is also GM Smirnov's favourite gambit for Black.

Although at first this move may seem very risky and violating the classical opening principles, 3...f5 is not as bad as it looks. It's extremely tricky and very difficult for White to figure out the best moves. In the most-played line, Black gets a winning position straight of the opening. Even 2400-rated players get trapped and blunder their queen within 10 moves.
