COURAGE BEGETS TRUE PEACE | The Word Exposed with Cardinal Tagle (August 17, 2025) with Sign Language

Today is the Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time. In the gospel, the Jesus expresses his anticipation of the Day of Judgment, which also signals the ultimate reign of God: “I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing!”

But we can ask, why did division come when Jesus came? It is because where the Word of God is proclaimed, contrasting responses arise. The Word of God will speak to us, and prompt us to choose good over evil. To choose life over death. To choose grace over sin. The courage to choose Jesus brings peace to those rejected by others.

What will you choose, brothers and sisters? Will you prioritize the Word of God? Can you commit to God’s Kingdom? May our disposition and decision lead all of us to the peace that surely comes from the reign of God.
