To prepare for our #votethatjawn event at City Hall on Wednesday, we asked Coach DeyDey to teach us an HBCU Drumline Beat! "Sambo" is a classic HBCU-style cadence that many schools play; it features 5-stroke rolls and stick tricks for snare drummers, and a bass drum part that challenges students to count and play dotted quarter notes in the first bar of the 2-bar loop, followed by dotted 8th notes in the second bar.

Come hang with us on Wednesday, October 16 at City Hall from 3 - 4pm to get registered to VOTE and vibe with our new beats!
