POST FALLS, ID. — Access to the Spokane River at the Post Falls Dam is opening this Tuesday, June 20.

The City of Post Falls boat launch and swim beach at Q'emiln Park is also opening that day.

Avista is advising people using the river that river recreation will be allowed between the Spokane Street Bridge and the boater safety cables upstream of the Post Falls Dam starting on Tuesday. They say river flows have dropped sufficiently, which is allowing summer operations at the facility.

Avista says they expect operations to run through Labor Day as weather conditions allow. They also say water levels and conditions around the dam can change at any time so, remember to be safe when using the river in the area.

Avista adds that during high flow conditions, the boat launch and swim beach at the park may temporarily close, along with other areas of the river downstream of the Spokane Street Bridge. If this happens, people in the area will be notified and temporary closure signs will be posted.
