Experience the future of business aviation with the Gulfstream G550 where every detail is crafted to elevate your journey to extraordinary heights. In the world of private aviation, the Gulfstream G550 stands as a symbol of unparalleled excellence. Renowned for its exceptional range, cutting-edge technology, and unrivaled comfort, the G550 seamlessly blends performance with luxury. Gulf Stream’s G550 is an ultra-long-range category business jet that represents one of two commercial designations for the Savannah, Georgia-based manufacturer’s GV-SP type. The GV stands for Gulfstream V, and SP refers to the Special Performance or Special Performance Enhancements that the G550 includes over its predecessor. The company announced the G550 in 2000, with the GV-SP type receiving FAA approval on Aug. 14, 2003, and the airframe entering service that same year. The Gulfstream G550 excels in intercontinental travel and can take off from short runways at high-altitude airports. With its extended range, the Gulfstream G550 seamlessly connects cities like Washington, DC to Dubai, London to Singapore, and Tokyo to Paris without the need for refueling. Known for superior dispatch reliability, the Gulfstream G550 is ideal for mission-critical trips. Gulfstream fitted the G550 with two BMW/Rolls Royce BF 700-710-C4-11 turbofan engines. Each is rated at 15,385 lbs of thrust and is inspected “on condition.” These engines produce a tremendous amount of power, allowing the jet to travel long-range distances and complete record-breaking missions. The G550 can fly up to approximately 6,750 nautical miles (12,500 kilometers) on a full tank. The G550 has a maximum cruise speed of Mach 0.85, translating to about 561 miles per hour (901 kilometers per hour). The aircraft’s maximum speed is Mach 0.88, allowing for rapid travel when needed. The aircraft has a maximum operating altitude of 51,000 feet, which is higher than many commercial jets. The G550 requires about 6,000 feet (1,829 meters) for takeoff at maximum takeoff weight, making it capable of operating from many medium to large-sized airports. The landing distance is approximately 3,600 feet (1,097 meters), allowing for operations at a wide range of airports, including those with shorter runways. The price for a new Gulfstream G550 typically ranges from $60 million to $65 million, while older models typically sell for between $15 and $23 million.
