The first time I realized this I laughed out loud 😂 The Loved One movie is… interesting. It’s billed as a movie that has something to offend everyone, and that seems pretty accurate 🙈

Rolly Crump said that he and Yale Gracey pretty much just watched movies for a year to do “research” for the Haunted Mansion. Other movies that influenced the ride include The Haunting from 1963, the 1946 french surrealist film La Belle et la Bete, the 1960 film 13 Ghosts by William Castle, Phantom of the Opera from 1925, and the classic Nosferatu from 1922. They also drew some inspiration from the Night on Bald Mountain sequence from Disney’s Fantasia.

Many people mistake the Ghost Hostess “Little Leota” (as some call her) as a miniature version of the beating heart, bride or Constance Hatchaway, but some of her lines were taken almost directly from the movie the Loved One. That makes her a Ghost Hostess who is wearing mourning attire and carrying flowers for a funeral and not a bride at all.
