일제강점기 슬픈역사의 현장인 '서대문 형무소'에서
다시 촬영된 헨델,할보르센 '파사칼리아'는
독립운동가 유관순 열사의 순국 100주년을 맞아
서대문형무소 역사관의 촬영협조로 제작되었습니다.
⠀
유관순 열사는 고문 후유증으로 서대문형무소 옥사에서
1920년 9월 28일 순국하였습니다.

2020년 10월17일 18시 ,
서대문형무소역사관 야외무대에서 개최된
'금난새와 함께하는 유관순 열사 순국 100주년 추모음악회' 에서
최초공개되었습니다.⠀
⠀
서대문 형무소를 배경으로 거의 모든 장소에서 촬영된
'파사칼리아'는 바로크음악의 진수를 보여주는
느린 삼박자 계열의 대표적 변주곡입니다.


본래 헨델이 작곡한 파사칼리아
(하프시코드 모음곡 7곡 중 6번째 곡)를
할보르센이 바이올린과 비올라를 위한 곡으로 편곡하였는데,
연주장에서는 바이올린과,첼로,혹은 콘트라베이스 구성으로
연주하고는 합니다.

영상 인트로의 파사칼리아 오르간 전주는 DMK가
파사칼리아의 웅장한 느낌을 더하고자 직접 작곡하고
연주하여 음악의 완성도를 높였으며,

원곡의 파사칼리아 바리에이션을 본래보다 조금 더 짧게 편곡하여
연주하였습니다.

처절했던 아픈역사를 잊지 않고 되풀이하지 않기를
바라는 마음을 담아 연주했습니다.

[서대문 형무소 역사관]
⠀
"서대문형무소는 일본제국주의가 지은 근대식 감옥입니다"
⠀
1908년 10월에 문을 열어 1987년 11월에 폐쇄될 때까지 80년 동안 감옥으로 사용되었습니다.
⠀
일제강점기에는 식민 지배에 맞섰던 많은 항일 독립운동가들이 갇혔으며,
해방 후에는 독재 정권과 군사 정권에 저항했던
민주화 운동가들이 갇혔던 역사의 현장입니다.

과거의 역사를 교훈으로 삼고 독립운동가와 민주화운동가의
자유와 평화를 향한 신념을 기억하고
기념하는 박물관으로 현재 서대문구에서 운영하고 있습니다.

Passacaglia│Hendel&Halvorsen is usually played a in violin and
Viola (accompaniment) composition.
⠀
It is also one of the frequently played songs in the concert hall
because of its explosive and colorful composition.
⠀
Passacaglia│Hendel&Halvorsen is not often played
in the Layers’ composition
which is the violin&cello with organ configuration.

[Seodaemun Prison]
⠀
"Seodaemun Prison is a modern prison built by the Japanese Empire"
⠀
It was used as a prison for 80 years from October 1908 to November 1987.
⠀
In the Japanese colonial era, a lot of anti-Japanese independence activists against colonization were locked up,
and after Liberation, pro-democracy activists against the dictatorship and military regime were locked up.
⠀
Later, Seodaemun-gu opened the prison as Seodaemun Prison History Hall on November 5th,
1998 to preserve the site and make it a historical lesson.
The museum is operated as a place that offers lessons of history,
and remembering and commemorating the faith of independence movement activists
and pro-democracy activists toward freedom and peace.
