The movie kicks off with John Wick in a frantic chase to recover his stolen Ford Mustang from Abram Tarasov, the brother of the late Viggo Tarasov. Tarasov realizes the value of the car, as it's not just any car; it's John Wick's car, which has a history soaked in bloodshed. Tarasov's henchmen underestimate John's determination and prowess, questioning whether the car is worth all the trouble.

Tarasov enlightens them about the legend of John Wick, a man who killed his nephew, his brother, and numerous henchmen over a car and a puppy. This paints a clear picture of the extraordinary man they're dealing with. Tarasov acknowledges John's respect in the crime world due to his skills.

John tracks down his Mustang and unleashes a violent rampage, incapacitating Tarasov's men and damaging his beloved car. However, he spares Tarasov's life after receiving a promise to never interfere with his life again. John reluctantly accepts the peace offer, taking a step back from his hitman life.

Aurelio, a mechanic, visits John to repair his Ford Mustang, which is in bad shape. Later, John is approached by Santino D'Antonio, a crime boss, who requests him to return to his old life as a hitman, offering a job and invoking a blood oath marker. John initially declines, which infuriates Santino. In retaliation, Santino attacks John's home with a grenade launcher.

Surviving the attack but left homeless, John seeks refuge at the Continental Hotel in New York City, a safe haven for assassins. There, he faces the consequences of rejecting the marker and violating two crucial underworld rules: no killing on Continental grounds and honoring markers.

Realizing he has no choice, John reluctantly accepts the marker and sets out to kill Santino's sister, Gianna, who poses a threat to Santino's claim to a seat at the high table. John infiltrates Gianna's coronation and fulfills the marker by killing her. Cassian, Gianna's bodyguard, recognizes John's involvement and pursues him. They engage in fierce shootouts and even a physical brawl, respecting the Continental's no-killing policy on its grounds.

While evading Cassian, John gets double-crossed by Ares, Santino's enforcer. Cassian and John ultimately end up in a truce, respecting the hotel's rules. Later, Santino opens a $7 million contract to kill John, framing it as revenge for Gianna's death. The contract is distributed to high-profile assassins worldwide.

Winston, the Continental's manager, warns Santino of the dire consequences he has triggered by betraying John, a man not to be trifled with. John returns to New York City and is immediately targeted by assassins vying for the $7 million bounty. He encounters various challenges, including a formidable adversary known as the "fat assassin."



Realizing the potential repercussions of Santino gaining a high table seat, the Bowery King decides to support John. He equips John with a gun and directs him to an art museum where Santino is holding a gala.

John storms the museum, eliminating Santino's henchmen and chasing Santino throughout the building. A final showdown occurs, resulting in John killing Santino, despite being inside the Continental. Defying Winston's warnings, John returns to his old home and reminisces about his life with his late wife.
