The signs and symptoms of shock can be difficult to remember in nursing school. Shock symptoms and shock signs are really important to understand as a nursing student, because it can mean life or death for a patient.

The symptoms of shock are tricky to remember during nursing school because there are so many moving parts: does the heart rate increase or decrease? Does the blood pressure rise or fall? And what about the respiratory rate?

These questions pop up not just for shock, but for all of the med-surg disorders you need to learn in nursing school.

So in this video, we're going to walk through the major signs and symptoms of shock (with the exception of neurogenic shock).

Here's an overview of the signs and symptoms of shock that we'll talk about:
Increased heart rate
Increased respiratory rate
Decreased blood pressure
Thready pulse
Decreased peripheral pulses
Cyanosis
Neurological symptoms
Decreased urine output
Absent bowel sounds.
