The Seven Hollows Trail at Petit Jean State Park is a 4.5-mile loop that leads hikers through some of the landscape that inspired Arkansas’s first state park. The trail winds through a series of sandstone canyons, quiet glades, turtle-rock formations, and four major “hollows” carved by ancient streams. Along the way, visitors encounter highlights such as a natural stone bridge, a wet-weather waterfall, wide sandstone glades, and the shaded Grotto—a box canyon once visited by Native Americans and teeming with wildlife.

The trail showcases dramatic bluffs, lichen-covered rock, seasonal wildflowers, eastern collared lizards basking on sunny glades, and abundant birdlife in the deeper hollows. Interpretive markers and light-blue blazes guide hikers through varied terrain shaped by fire, water, and time. While generally moderate, sections can be rocky, steep, or temporarily flooded after heavy rain.
