Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) is an extremely effective way of managing all forms of lymphedema, lipedema, and venous edema. However, many shortcuts in today’s health care are causing our patients to receive suboptimal treatment. This presentation will explain how successful therapy in the private practice setting is based on delivering gold-standard treatment; addressing each individual patient’s limitations, both physically and emotionally; and by partaking in one’s own self-care and personal development. Also discussed will be ways to help empower your patients to take control over their lymphedema, rather than allowing their lymphedema to control them.
