Following their team gold triumph on Saturday, Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and Isabell Werth made it a German 1-2 in the individual discipline, with Britain's Charlotte Fry picking up the bronze medal.

Defending champion von Bredow-Werndl was the top qualifier and turned that performance into gold once again with a percentage score of 90.093 aboard TSF Dalera BB.

Werth, riding Wendy, scored 89.614 to take the silver medal - her 14th at Olympic level.

The 55 year-old is Germany's most successful Olympian.

Fry and her mount Glamourdale edged out Dutch rider Dinja van Liere, aboard Hermes, by 88.971 to 88.432.

Fry also won a bronze for GB in the team event.
