Charlie: Dan, because you're an expert in vision insurance and what companies ought to do, if I am the Head of HR/Benefits at a major company, how do I know that this is the vision insurance company I should go for?

Daniel: It really depends on what you're looking for. That's a pretty general question. Some people are looking for cost. I'd say look for cost, look for quality, look for flexibility, and look for freedom of choice.

Charlie: Customer service.

Daniel: Absolutely, customer service.

Charlie: That's number one, I would think.

Daniel: That is number one. I sometimes don't even mention it because it just goes without saying in my mind.

It depends what a company is particularly looking for. In general, I feel companies are looking for a quality product at a good price. I don't think you want the cheapest out there.

Maybe you don't want the most expensive out there, but something that is going to get the job done and provide a quality benefit for the price.

Vision, I think, gives you dollar for dollar. It's something that you pay for and you use it, you get your investment out of it.

Charlie: And we see the result. I don't always know when I go to my medical doctor, and she's banging around on me, what I'm actually getting from it.

Daniel: Health insurance costs a good bit and you don't want to use it, it's something that you have. Vision insurance, some people don't even necessarily look at it as insurance because it's more of a defined plan and you're going to use it -- or you should be using it.

Charlie: From a customer-service standpoint, I can think of at least two different ways that can apply. If I'm the Head of HR/Benefits, I want to make sure that I get my questions answered when I get back and forth, and then of course all of my employees I want to make sure that they're handled really well if they have a question that the doctor can't answer or directly to the plan.

Daniel: Right. I look at customer service as two aspects. There's the end user customer, the person getting their exam or the employee. Then there's customer service between the two companies, the HR/Benefits department and our company or someone else's company, the carrier and the client.

Charlie: Excellent.
