If you spend time in Beyoğlu and Kadıköy, you must have listened to Florin. To put it more accurately, he has sent you a thank you kiss when you are not looking, and you are unaware of it. But if you could hear Florin, "Yes, this is our man!" you say. Florin is our man.

If you haven't listened to Asi Florin playing in front of Galatasaray, right in the middle of the tramway or at the foot of the Süreyya Opera, if you haven't lost yourself in the flow of that davudi sound, you've drowned in the noise of the city.

Florin Stanescu. He is now 38 years old. Florin is Romanian, born in a large industrial city in Romania. He has been playing the accordion since he was young. He always says, "Music comes from the heart, daddy", and you immediately believe that it is. It is not possible otherwise. His father played the violin and grew up with music. He also made a repertoire of Roman folk songs that he learned from his grandfather.

He's so adept at the accordion and the art of incorporating his voice into one's lungs. He is as humble as he is master. Even if you roll a lira into the shoe box in front of him, he will thank you. Even if it is at the climax of the song he is playing, he greets you if he nods. The answer to the question "Are you okay" is always the same in Florin; "It's not important". Don't get me wrong, it's not because you don't know Turkish. Even when we learned that his accordion was confiscated by the police and went to him, he dismissed it as "It's not important, it doesn't matter". Florin doesn't want to see people pity him because he doesn't have a leg. For Florin, “It doesn't matter” is a brief translation of “I don't need you, but my music is open to the listener”. That's why he always stands upright, bowing his head only when he is thanked for his music.

Florin lost his right leg in a train accident when he was just four years old. He is actually an engine technician, but his accident prevented him from doing his job. He said, "If I can't do business where I stand, I can travel too." Not having a leg prevents him from being a technician, but not being a traveller! Florin played in more than 200 cities both to do what she knows best, and to - just in case - raise the money for the prosthesis. He learned 7 languages while traveling almost all of Europe, not to mention the friendships he gained. This long journey he took to collect the money for the prosthetic leg took him to a very different point. Florin comes to mind in a city in Italy, perhaps in Istanbul, when it comes to roman music.
