Did you know that there's a Yemeni community on Jeju island, South Korea?

In this episode, we are visiting Yemenis house on Jeju island for dinner! From un-belie-vable roast chicken to fasolia, Hiro and Daum had the honour to be invited to Yemenis house to try home-cooked dinner cooked by Ameen Alaswadi.

Ameen Alaswadi is Yemeni-Ethiopian who came to Jeju in 2018. He is currently living in Korea under the status of "refugee status determination" in Korea.

You may wonder, Why is there a Yemeni community on Jeju island?
South Korea is the first country in Asia to implement a refugee law. Specifically, Jeju island in South Korea has a special visa waiver program that allows visa-free entry to Jeju for any passport holders for up to 30 days. Under this special visa waiver program, over 500 Yemeni refugees came to Jeju in 2018 as asylum seekers. Under the refugee law, many are staying in Jeju with "refugee status determination" residence status; Some has been recognised as refugees.

Today, Yemeni communities are around Incheon, Itaewon (Seoul), and Jeju.
