NBTC assigns frequencies and regulates the use of frequencies and radio communication equipment in telecommunications and radio communication services. NTBC standards and technical specifications result in better quality, efficiency, fairness, and reliability for the users. NBTC certification for broadcast and telecommunication equipment is mandatory by law and your equipment must be compatible in order to be sold legally in Thailand.

What is telecommunication equipment?
Telecommunication equipment is a device used for transmission of information using signals, sounds, and messages via wire, radio, optical or electromagnetic systems.

A few examples include telephone, internet, radio, television, FAX, Modems, Data terminal, ADSL, Ethernet switch, Wi-Fi routers, Wireless microphone, Cordless phone, Bluetooth devices, RFID products, Vehicle radars, Wireless mouse, Laptops, Tablets, NFC devices, Walkie-Talkies, Car keys, Bluetooth headsets, Bluetooth speakerphones, GPS Watches, Smart TV, Wi-Fi cameras and Wireless LAN devices among others.

What is broadcasting?
Broadcasting refers to the transmission of audio or video content from different sources to the public.

NBTC certification for digital TV and internet set-top box is mandatory before starting operations and sales in Thailand. NBTC defines the standards for all equipment related to broadcasting and receiving systems for digital TV and Internet set up boxes. A TISI certification is also needed for digital TV and Internet set up boxes.
