3I/ATLAS just produced one of the most extreme high-energy features ever recorded for an interstellar object — a 250,000-mile X-ray tail, detected independently by multiple space-based observatories. New analysis from XRISM and ESA’s XMM-Newton confirms a massive X-ray glow extending far beyond the visible coma, revealing charge-exchange interactions between 3I/ATLAS’ outflowing gas and the solar wind. This is not normal comet behavior. No visible telescope on Earth captured this structure — it only appeared in X-ray wavelengths, invisible to the human eye.
