In this video we will be showing you how to remove the case default option in Medisoft.

This video will help in resolving the problem of patient information populating on all new cases.

Example: You’re creating new cases for patients at the office and you notice that every case you create has information from another patient pre-populated in the fields.

Typically, when this happens it means that a case in the system has been marked as a “default“.

We've gotten a few calls into support regarding a common issue in Medisoft. When creating a new case for a patient, you may notice that there's case data from an existing patient that pulls over into that new case. We'll take a look at an example of what that will look like here. Go ahead and open up the Transaction Entry window. Then, we're going to select a chart. For this example, we're just going to use John in the system here with our demo. We're going to go ahead and right-click and make a new case for John. Now you can see that it pulled up with some preexisting information regarding his insurance. This also has Medicare. Only we can see here that the policy holder is a different patient in the system, indicating that this information might be for a different patient, and not necessarily for him.
This issue typically occurs when this button over here "Set Default" is pressed. What that will do is it will take the values from these fields and allow those to be created on all new cases moving forward. Go ahead and press cancel here. We're going to go ahead and do "New Case". Within the new case window, we can hold down the Control key on the keyboard and we'll see that that field changes to remove default. Go ahead and click on "Remove Default" and we get this little confirmation that the default values have been removed. Go ahead and cancel out once more, and we'll go ahead and make a new case. Now this time it should populate and the policy information as well as all the provider information will be back to its default values.
