It's all about the glass. No lens no image. Should we all be buying up the old vintage lenses? I think so. Using my Leica MP240, I compare my Leica Summilux 50mm f1.4 (manufactured 2015) to an old vintage collapsible 5cm f3.5 lens (manufactured 1954) in normal shooting conditions. The Summilux is almost 10x more expensive, even used. How does the vintage Leica lens stack up. Surprising results in my opinion.
