Perpetual e-Motion - Dance Flurry 2011 - "Flying Tent" (HD version)

Описание к видео Perpetual e-Motion - Dance Flurry 2011 - "Flying Tent" (HD version)

The last dance of their phenomenal set with Bob Isaacs calling, a sendup rendition of Keith Murphy's "Flying Tent" with John's awesome mashup! If this doesn't turn you on to contra dancing I'm not sure what will (camera pans to dancers at 1:45). And while you're watching, check out the fact that sometimes when the music is just cranking, John and Ed aren't actually playing, they're sitting there listening to the loops figuring out what they are going to do next...

This video was taken at "Dance Flurry" 2011, an annual dance and music festival weekend that happens the second weekend of February in Saratoga Springs, New York. ( see http://www.flurryfestival.org ) People come from all over and Perpetual e-Motion played again in 2013 and 2014. This is the main dance hall and I would guess at least 400 people dancing with somewhere between 7 and 9 sets.

Perpetual e-Motion (http://perpetuale-motion.com/ ) no longer plays regularly and John is living his dream, working as a Captain pilot for Cape Air, but you can find info on Ed's various musical projects, including "Barefoot" with Jamie Oshima at http://sopaudio.com/musician.

The dance is "Urban Modern Groove" by Bob Isaacs (written 2010)
Contra/Improper

A1 (16) Neighbor gypsy and swing
A2 (8) Right and left through; (8) Robins allemande Right 1-1/2
B1 (16) Partner balance and swing
B2 (8) Promenade across the Set, (8) Circle Left 3/4 and pass through

Personal note: This video is one of those great gifts when you accidentally happen to be in the right place at the right time. I had been dancing the entire day and decided to sit out a dance, not realizing that it was the last dance of the night. I grabbed my camera and went up on the stage and started filming, handheld. What came next has turned out to be one of the greatest performances I've ever witnessed. I've watched and listened to this so many times and have heard other tell me they've done same. John and Ed just kept cycling the energy continuously until it erupted with that great cheer at the end of dance. What an amazing exhilarating experience! I didn't get to dance to it but by capturing it here I, and 23K others at last count get to relive it again and again. Will Loving
