Marcus Smart admits he cut his hand by hitting a picture frame.
Marcus Smart didn't play in the Celtics' win over the Clippers in Los Angeles on Wednesday night. At first, head coach Brad Stevens told reporters that Smart cut his hand at the hotel and that the team didn't know exactly what happened.

On Friday, Smart shared a statement via Twitter to explain himself and apologize to his teammates, coaches and fans. The guard says he injured his hand when he "swiped at and hit a picture frame on the wall."

The Celtics' news release says that Smart is expected to be out for about two weeks with his hand injury.

This is another reminder to athletes that throwing punches also hurts your own hand. But props to Smart for owning up to it and apologizing fairly quickly. While it's a dumb mistake, this is the best possible way to handle it.
