Nambiar, Manjula, Latha Sethupathi, Chandrakala, Thai actress Metta Roongrat, R.S. Manohar, S.A. Ashokan in the lead roles while Nagesh play supporting role. The film's score and soundtrack are composed by M. S. Viswanathan. The film was MGR's last all-time blockbuster and completed a 217-day run at the box office. About 4 crore tickets were reportedly sold. This new record remained unbeaten for six years until the release of Thirisoolam.
