"After the age of 18, male pattern hair loss will realistically kick in. It's when testosterone begins to peak after puberty that testosterone will convert to dihydrotestosterone in abundance. So, let's say you're 18 years old and your total testosterone is 1000, your DHT level on a blood test is probably around 40. Over time, DHT levels will actually increase. Genetically speaking, as males age, their propensity for increasing DHT levels also increases. Ironically, there is an inverse relationship as males will end up having less testosterone, but more testosterone is being converted into dihydrotestosterone."
