Presented at ARARA online lecture series on February 10, 2024.
Subject: The Paleolithic rock art of southeastern Iberia is less well known than the famous caves of France and northern Spain. But recent discoveries and dating are revealing the significance of this region for our understanding of Ice Age art. Drawing from recent headlines and personal visits, Peter provides an overview of the region’s Paleolithic art, encompassing some of the earliest known European images (likely Neanderthal) as well as some from the very end of the Ice Age.
