Madhav, a grieving husband, receives advice from his step-brother, Sangram, to perform Chitra's last rites in order to quell the strange occurrences in their home. Neelambari, Madhav's step-mother, resolves to undertake a waterless fast until Madhav disperses Chitra's ashes. Meanwhile, Narayan Thakur, Madhav's father, discerns Neelambari's malicious intent to remarry Madhav for property gain. To thwart her plan, he seeks Vaidehi's hand in marriage from her grandmother, who is Madhav's childhood friend.
