Descriptions of the elements of a newspaper:
MASTHEAD: It's a list at the top of the page where the names of editors, writers, and owners, as well as the title of the newspaper are published. It also gives the place of publication, publication date, etc.
HEADLILNE: It's the title of a newspaper story. It catches your eyes and sums up the story in a single line. It is usually in larger font and often bolded.
DROPHEAD: It’s a secondary headline that provides additional information about the story. It's under the headline.
BYLINE: It's the author of the article. It appears at the beginning of the article.
DATELINE: It has two elements: the name of the city from where a story originated and the date on which it was written. It usually appears in bold letters.
LEAD: It's the first paragraph of a news article and it briefly gives the most important information.
BODY: It supplies additional information. It’s divided into small paragraphs.
PULLQUOTE: A quote pulled out of a story to attract readers.
CAPTION: It used to describe a photograph. It is known as cutline in the US.
