Antoine Graves, one of the five people charged for the fatal shooting of Damonte Perry near The Hamlets apartment complex in Willoughby last year, turned down a plea deal from prosecutors and has asked for a new attorney.

Graves, 18, is facing ten felony counts, including complicity to aggravated murder. Prosecutors offered to reduce the charges to one count of complicity to murder, one count of complicity to aggravated robbery, and tampering with evidence.

Instead, Graves chose to reject the deal and is seeking to hire a new attorney.

"He is currently unhappy with my service," defense attorney Kenneth Nelson told Lake County Common Pleas Court Judge John O'Donnell during Tuesday's hearing.

During the hearing, Nelson said that Graves' family had met with attorney Joseph Patituce as a possible replacement. However, it was revealed that Patituce is already representing one of the juvenile defendants in the case.

"I can't imagine in what world that he (Patituce) would be permitted to represent Mr. Graves in this case," O'Donnell said.

Graves' trial is slated to begin on Feb. 17.
