Federal politics isn't usually known for its collaborative bipartisan approach, but the major parties, and even the minor ones, are making a real effort to try to find some kind of consensus on Indigenous recognition in Australia's constitution.

For the first time in the nation's history, both the Minister for Indigenous Australians and the Shadow Minister are Indigenous themselves.

This year the ABC's annual Boyer Lectures are about the path towards recognition and they're being delivered by one of Australia's most respected filmmakers and directors, Rachel Perkins.
