Abandoned Cheltenham Railway Notgrove Station

Notgove Station, a stop along the Cheltenham to Banbury abandoned railway. Interesting to see what we can find today, and if you like caravanning and camping in the Cotswolds, its good news. Unfortunately if you prefer walking old track beds it’s not so good. At least the people running the camp site are very nice and helpful people. There is a footpath to the site of an accommodation bridge, a very good selection of railway sleeper fence posts and a nice display of some wooden sleepers and rail chairs by the entrance. Back in the Great Western Railway days you could hire a carriage for camping so there is a president for this, but I don’t think they tore up the track bed to do it. I was hoping to at least film a road bridge at one end or the other of this section, but regrettably it appears they have been grubbed out. More of our local history disappearing. To save the day I visited the village of Notgrove which turned out to be a delightful Cotswold village hidden off the beaten path.
Just a foot note, there is a costed (£0.25 Billion) scheme to rebuild this railway, I have filmed most of the route and have to say they face quite a few problems to do it. Not in my lifetime I think.
