Resident Evil 2 commercial was directed by George A. Romero in 1997, before the game was released. The commercial was shown only in Japan. Sony pictures and Capcom also hired Romero as a film writer and director. Romero wrote a script for the first Resident Evil film, which was based on the first game, However, Capcom disliked his script and he was fired.
