The Horrific Story of the Abandoned Paper Mill in Canada. They Just Left Him Here!

During the construction of the mill in 1920, a man had fallen into the cold, wet cement as they were pouring the walls of the mill. By the time anyone had noticed the man was missing it was too late to save him. He remains there to this day, forever. trapped in the foundation of the mill.
There have been reports of locals who have felt the presence of "Red Eyes" while visiting The Old Mill at night. Some say they can feel that someone is watching them and others claim to have seen the “Red Eyes” glaring at them from the tower. Townsfolk believe this to be the spirit of the man who was killed and buried alive by the concrete. He continues to haunt the grounds to this very day.

The "Old Mill" is an ionic landmark in Glovertown. Although now a shell, this towering concrete structure once represented prosperity and a future in the pulp and paper industry.
In early 1920 the Terra Nova Sulphite Company Limited in Newfoundland, Canada acquired a local timber licenses in the area. Then in 1921, through Norwegian financing, the Company began the construction of the pulp and paper mill which housed machine rooms, acid towers, digesters and other parts of the mill. A medical clinic, school, and houses for mill operators were also built inside the red-gated community. The Terra Nova Sulphite Mill was in its final phase of construction, it ran into serious financial difficulty as the Norwegian financing fell apart. It left the developers with insufficient funds to complete the project. In the Fall of 1921, after the Government of Newfoundland refused to guarantee a loan, construction was halted. Despite continued efforts to save the mill, all timber and water power rights, machinery and mill buildings were sold to the Anglo-Newfoundland Development Company. Later the decision was made to expand the Grand Falls operation and to ship the Terra Nova timber resources there. Today it still sits abandoned. The future of the mill is unknown.

My father took me to my first abandoned house when I was 7 years old. I remember going into the house and a old farmer came in and told us "we better watch out as the floors are all rotten and unsafe". Ever since that day I was hooked on exploring abandoned places.
