Unboxing a Solus PCC189 high slope low noise double triode vacuum tube. This valve is probably new & in its original box. (NOS New Old Stock, NIB New In Box).
The valve base is a Noval, B9A. The valve has no top connection cap. The glass envelope has SOLUS & PCC189 printed on it in white. Also on the valve is IPB (or 1PB) & Δ2A4. The box has SOLUS, PCC189 & IMPORTED on one end. The box has SOLUS VALVE, S logo & Solus (Electronics) Limited Cambridge England on the sides. Solus were a rebrander/reboxing distributor & did not manufacture their own valves.
The type PCC 189 has a heater filament voltage requirement of 7.6 volts & was first introduced in 1960 It was used in VHF television receivers.
A quick test on my AVO CT160 valve tester showed the valve heater filament to be good but I did not carry out any further tests on the valve.

There might be a connection with the former Murphy Radio Ltd subsidiaries Solus-Schall and Solus Electronic Tubes, as I think these companies were later sold off/closed down by Rank Organisation after they acquired Murphy Radio Ltd in 1962."
