Given a target coverage area, locations where "facilities" can be installed, and a coverage "radius" for each facility, where to install the smallest possible number of facilities in order to cover the entire area? Examples of situations that fit this description are: opening fire stations or public schools to cover an urban area, installing antennas for cellphone coverage, installing tornado warning sirens or surveillance cameras to cover an area, strategically opening charging stations for electric cars so that travel throughout the country can be guaranteed, etc. In this video we learn how to model and solve these types of problems in Excel.
