The J-35A’s overall geometry, its smooth conformal surfaces, and F-35-style diverterless supersonic inlets suggest that finally, this is China’s response to the F-35. They also suggest an impressively low radar cross-section, as expected on an ultra-stealth fighter jet. Still, it’s impossible to fully discern exactly how stealthy the jet is from images because radar reflectivity is heavily affected by design and integration of radar-absorbent materials, internal inlet/nozzle architecture, and tinier manufacturing details — like avoiding the use of protruding screws, for instance. However, the images show that the fighter does classify as stealthy — and that is enough to earn it a spot on the modern battlefield.
