Featuring Johan Stone on lead vocals and harmonica, the song explores the choice a person must make to live life to the fullest. Woven through a collage of southern funk and overdriven Rock ‘N’ Roll, Stone’s lyrics, “today I’m gonna do things on my own” reflect his struggle to emigrate from his native Germany to the United States to pursue music on his own terms.
