Описание к видео Execution of Volksturmmann Johann Rößler in Rothenburg, Germany April 1945.

Volksturmmann Johann Rößler was a market gardener from Rothenburg, who at the age of 49 and ill with a foot complaint that dated to his service in the first world war, deserted from the Volkssturm near Frankfurt an der Oder in February 1945 and fled home. Despite being warned to hide, he insisted on remaining at home where he was captured. After a brief court martial and death sentence given, SS-General Max Simon had Rößler shot against the cemetery wall in Rothenburg. This sign in the cemetery now recalls what happened.

My history channel is based on my own research and generally comes from places I have visited and or original research. I live in a motorhome and as such spend most of my time travelling between Poland, Germany and Italy which is why there is a tendency to produce material from these countries, and sometimes material that is not available in English. My speciality is in World War Two, and in particular, the Holocaust although as you can see, I have opinions on a lot of other historical subjects too.
