The song “I Wish You Love” was originally a French popular song "Que reste-t-il de nos amours?" (What Remains of Our Loves?) written by Léo Chauliac and Charles Trenet. It was first recorded by the French singer Lucienne Boyer in 1942, then in 1943 by French crooner Roland Gerbeau.
Charles Trenet recorded his own version also in 1943.

The English version "I Wish You Love" was introduced in 1957 by Keely Smith as the title of her debut album and became one of Smith's signature songs.
