This Is What Beijing Is Like At Night (4K China Walking Tour) | 北京

What is it like to walk around in one of China's largest cities on a Friday night? We took a walk through a few of Beijing's most popular Hutongs (the traditional alleyways of Beijing) to find out!

First we explore Nanluoguxiang, a narrow alley right in the heart of Beijing with both old and new traditional architecture. Due to it's many shops, restaurants and bars, Nanluoguxiang has become a hotspot for both locals and tourists both by day and at night.

After a short walk along Gulou East Road, which ends in the Beijing Drum tower, we switch gears at Wudaoying alley. Compared to Nanluoguxiang, Wudaoying is a bit less known, which gives it an even more authentic Beijing feel. Besides the regular coffee shops and bars, this hutong is also home to School Bar: one of China's most popular punk rock venues!

🇨🇳 Chinese introduction: 北京的二环路恰好建在老北京内城城墙的旧址上，二环之内的东、西城区就是当年明清老北京城的内城范围。五道营胡同就毗邻北二环，呈东西走向，首尾连接两座地标性建筑——安定门城楼和雍和宫喇嘛庙。安定门，为明清北京内城北城墙的东门，取“天下安定”之意，为朝廷出兵征战、得胜而归收兵之门。在百姓日常生活中，北京城内城九门讲究“九门走九车”，其中安定门走粪车。雍和宫在明代为太监官房，后改为雍亲王府，雍正继位后，雍和宫前后两院分别改建为黄教上院及雍正行宫，后于乾隆年间正式改为藏传佛教寺院。五道营胡同南侧紧邻安定门内国子监街，此处正是北京孔庙所在地。

五道营胡同位于如此人杰地灵之地，最初吸引了众多外国人在周边居住，体会老北京的胡同文化。据说最初是一位英国人携妻子第一个把餐吧开进了五道营胡同，五道营从此开始了“绅士化”的进程。之后，这里进进出出的国际友人络绎不绝，带来了西班牙、希腊、日韩等各国美食，又有各国友人开了不少咖啡厅、酒吧吸引了大批的中外食客；不少国人也看到了商机，来此纷纷开店，除了吃的，五道营胡同里还有不少销售中外稀奇古怪的小商品文艺小店。这里的餐厅酒吧独具特色，其他的小店也很有文艺范儿，除此之外，五道营胡同里还深藏着在北京摇滚酒吧圈中名声数一数二的school酒吧。北京迷人的夏夜里，热爱音乐、打扮入时的年轻人们，三五成群，在乐队换场的间隙，聚在school门口喝酒聊天，和朋友和各个乐队的成员们聊天嬉笑，给这条不长不短的小胡同，增加了别样的独特气质。

和游客如织、侧重快消商品的南锣鼓巷比起来，五道营吸引了更多长居本地的年轻人，也渐渐成为了文艺青年口中“最具气质”胡同。
