The Confederate flag's complicated history | Connect the Dots

Описание к видео The Confederate flag's complicated history | Connect the Dots

Conversations about the controversial Confederate flag are back in the spotlight following the death of George Floyd. NASCAR already banned the flag from all its events and properties, but the history of the flag is a lot more complicated than you might think. Ben Thompson connects the dots on how the flag has been used since the Civil War. First, the flag we most often see, isn't the actual Confederate flag, but a battle flag used by the army of General Robert E. Lee. In fact, the Confederacy had three different flags, none of them being the "stars and bars" flag that's most widely used. The Confederate flag we know today didn't gain traction until the 1940s, when it became a symbol of the segregationist Dixiecrat party. #WakeUpCLT
