With superstar lead actors, an acclaimed writer and legendary comedy director, The Roses was always going to pique the interest of movie reviewers. In this episode of ReelTalk, Ben gives his take on the movie which features, Acadamy Award winner Olivia Colman (The Favourite) and two-time Oscar nominee, Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange).

They play a married couple, Ivy and Theo Rose, whose relationship starts to unravel, after years of resentment and competition comes to ahead.

Written by Australian two-time Oscar nominee Tony McNamara (The Great, Poor Things) and directed by Jay Roach (Austin Powers, Meet the Parents), The Roses is a remake of the 1989 dark comedy, War of the Roses, which was a big hit and starred Michael Douglas (Basic Instinct), Kathleen Turner (Romancing the Stone) and Danny Devito (Twins, Matilda), who also directed the film.

The Roses also features, Andy Samberg (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Kate McKinnon (Barbie), Ncuti Gatwa (Sex Education, Doctor Who), Sunita Mani (Everything Everywhere All at Once) and Allison Janney (The Help, Juno).

With such a stellar cast, is there anything better than watching Colman and Cumberbatch go to war in The Roses?
