✍️ QUESTION: Practice 'likely' and/or 'unlikely' by answering any of these questions:

What is something that is likely to happen?
Do you think it is likely that climate change will be controlled?
Do you think that people are likely to switch to electric cars soon?

Examples:
Trump is likely to win the Electoral College vote, while Harris is very likely to win the popular vote.
1 in 12 women is likely to develop breast cancer.
Please remind me because I’m likely to forget.
First-born children are likely to be successful and independent.

We often use ‘likely’ to compare things:
Teenagers are more likely to sleep late than older adults.
Adults are less likely than children to oversleep.

You can use this structure, too: It is likely that something will happen.

Unlikely = the opposite
The other candidates are unlikely to win the nomination.
It is unlikely that the patient will recover any time soon.
