Hidden 90,000 Acre Alabama Family Compound

I love a good adventure and I REALLY love getting lost in the woods. Some of my best adventure memories are pre cell phone times when I was lost on logging trails in bad weather with flooded roads or when I got lost in the southern California desert at night on a dirt bike. I have had more than my share of those experiences. If I had video footage from it I could start a pretty decent adventure channel.

I thought this trip might turn into one of those lost in the woods moments but once I found my way through this ninety thousand acre spread, there was only one way out. Getting in was a little challenging though. As you can imagine this is not an address that will pull up in Google maps. Once I was in, the first person I found was a gentleman in his late seventies who didn't roll out the red carpet for me. I introduced myself and explained who I was looking for only to get a mean look and long moment of silence while I assume he was contemplating whether or not to run me out of there. He then kind pointed up the road before driving off.

When I got to the place with the bee infestation I was welcomed warmly by a young man and his son who are recent additions to this community as handyman and caretaker. My customer and new beekeeping student arrived as I was completing the hive removal. She happily joined in on transferring bees to her new equipment. We spent a good bit of time talking winter strategy and what to expect come spring. I think she will make an incredible beekeeper.
