Over the past 10 to 20 years there has been a steady stream of scandals in which organisations have been caught using privileged information in unethical ways. The most recent of which appear to include data from Facebook being used to manipulate political outcomes. A question that all organisations should be asking is how to predict and prevent the use of privileged information and unethical ways.

Clearly, organisations and the leadership want to ensure that their organisations perform well and, during course of business, people can find themselves in possession of privileged information that has been obtained either accidentally or in ways that are less than legal. The question is whether or not that information gets used in order to give the organisation an unfair and unethical advantage.
