Orbeez are tiny, hard pellets that grow into soft and squishy colorful balls when you place them in water. (The exact size they grow depends on the water you use because of the ionic/mineral content of the water. Using distilled water, Orbeez will grow to a maximum diameter of 14mm.) There are several different ways to use Orbeez, one of which is the Jewelry Maker. The Jewelry Maker comes with 1500 Orbeez in eight colors, a light-up heart pendant, a light-up star pendant, a circle pendant with a peace sign insert, and an activity and instruction booklet.

The first step is to grow the Orbeez. You'll need three cups of water and a teaspoon of salt. The Jewelry Maker has two levels of plastic cups. Lower the upper cup carousel into the lower cup carousel. Fill the cups with water, and pour one color of Orbeez pellets into each of the three cups. Add a pinch of salt to each cup. (This keeps the Orbeez fresh longer and ensures that they grow to the right size.) Give the Orbeez pellets a stir and let them soak for two hours. Lift the upper cup carousel and allow the water to drain completely into the bottom cups. Choose the heart or star pendant, remove the cap, and place the pendant into the pendant holder on the back of the Jewelry Maker base. Rotate the upper cup carousel to position the desired color above the pendant. Gently lift the knob in the center of the cup to release Orbeez into the pendant. Once the pendant is full, insert the cap. To activate the light, press down on the cap clockwise. To turn off the light, turn the cap in the opposite direction.

Filling the circle pendant does not require the use of the Jewelry Maker. Simply remove the lid and place Orbeez inside. You can use this pendant with or without the peace sign insert. Place the lid on top and press to close.
