Potentially Hazardous Asteroids (PHAs https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/spaceimages/...) data set created circa 2014, plotted with trailing purple orbit lines in the Solar System, with Earth's orbit in blue. A PHA is a Near Earth Asteroid whose Minimum Orbit Intersection Distance (MOID) with the Earth is 0.05 au or less and whose absolute magnitude (H) is 22.0 or brighter (https://cneos.jpl.nasa.gov/about/neo_.... There are ~1500 asteroids represented in the video.

There are currently no asteroids that are ranked about a 0 risk on the Torino Impact scale https://cneos.jpl.nasa.gov/sentry/ (as of 6/9/2019). There are no imminent risks. Even when an new object is added with a value of more than 1, it is typically due to initial uncertainty in the orbit. Asteroids in the data set are monitored and studied to better understand their origins, the evolution of their orbits, and their composition.

About the video: This is a test render of an asteroid dataset I created for use in real-time planetarium environments. New visual assets were available in DigitalSky2 (credit the software engineers, graphic artists, and other amazing people I work with there), which I used to develop a method of dynamic trailing orbit lines for greater than 1000's of objects (previously limited to 100's of static orbit lines). There are some defects in the render (I repeat: test render), notably the orbit of Saturn blinks off momentarily. The audio is a rough instrumental demo of a song I wrote, still featuring a combination of midi/vst instruments and first take guitar tracks.
