First, I wanted to be a biochemist. Then I imagined working with the CDC or WHO, serving underserved communities.

Medicine found me in a different way.

I trained across Europe and Africa — Geneva, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa — seeing healthcare at every extreme. From world-class hospitals to places where human connection was the only medicine available.

Later, at Johns Hopkins, I mastered the science, the procedures, the complexity of GI care.
But something was missing.

I kept prescribing.
Patients kept returning.
And they still didn’t feel well.

That’s when I realized: healing the gut takes more than prescriptions.
It takes nutrition, lifestyle, stress awareness, community, and compassion.
It takes finding root causes — not just managing symptoms.

That’s how I became an integrative gastroenterologist — blending evidence-based medicine with whole-person care.

Because real medicine isn’t just about treating disease.
It’s about helping people truly heal.
